Authorities told people to evacuate two libraries at the University of Virginia over a bomb threat on Friday morning, just one day after an ISIS-supporting terrorist shot three people, killing one, across the state at Old Dominion University.
University of Virginia police told people to “avoid the area” at Shannon Library on the Charlottesville campus over reports of a bomb threat. The university’s Department of Safety and Security later added that authorities were “investigating evacuating both Clemmons and Shannon Libraries.” The libraries are across the street from each other.
In their most recent update, university authorities said at 12:18 p.m. ET that police are on the scene investigating the threat, adding that “University Operations remain normal outside of” the libraries.
On Thursday, one person was killed and two more were wounded when Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, who was previously convicted of supporting ISIS, opened fire in an ROTC classroom at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Norfolk is around 170 miles southeast of Charlottesville.
Lieutenant Colonel Brandon Shah, a decorated military here who was teaching the class, was killed after Jalloh shot him multiple times. The terrorist was killed by “a group of brave students who stepped in and subdued him,” according to FBI Director Kash Patel.
