A botched robbery attempt at Zara clothing store in Soho left a security guard injured and patrons running for cover, witnesses said.
Police on Saturday were sorting out the mayhem that broke out at 503 Broadway shortly after 3 p.m., authorities said.
Cops responding to reports of shots fired at the store encountered a man — believed to be a store security guard — who had been “struck in the head with a bottle,” an NYPD spokesman said.
“It’s a little unclear at this time” what exactly happened, the spokesman said.
“Zara in Soho just had an active shooter and literally everybody ran. The scariest thing I have ever seen,” posted Jasmine C. Green to X.
“Tell me why there are 20+ cops across the street and everyone is running out of Zara scared,” posted a woman whose handle is @itslaurlmao, whose handle says she’s from Toronto, but was sharing photos from Times Square Friday night.
One onlooker said the store security guard got bashed in the head with a bottle and two suspects sped off in a silver car.
There were no other reported injuries, police said.
There were no arrests.
