California airports are experiencing widespread flight delays and cancellations as an intense winter storm sweeps across much of the US.

While the Golden State itself is forecast to see pleasant weather, the ripple effects of extreme cold and heavy snow elsewhere are being felt by incoming and departing passengers.

At least 176 arriving and departing flights had been canceled at Los Angeles International Airport as of 4:45 a.m. Sunday, , ABC 7 reported. Another five were canceled at Hollywood Burbank Airport, 16 at John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, eight at Ontario International Airport, and four at Long Beach Airport.

Further north, at least 50 flights were reported canceled at San Francisco International Airport as of Saturday night, with additional disruptions in Oakland and San Jose, NBC Bay Area reported.
