The Cardinals are moving on from Jonathan Gannon.

The franchise fired its third-year head coach Monday after another losing season, the worst of his tenure at 3-14.

Gannon finishes his time with the franchise at 15-36.

The Cardinals have not reached the playoffs since the 2021 season.

General Manager Monti Ossenfort is now tasked with securing Gannon’s successor.

Gannon, 42, arrived in Arizona in 2023 following a two-season run as the Eagles’ defensive coordinator.

He reached the Super Bowl in his final season with Philadelphia, an eventual 38-35 loss to the Chiefs.

The Cardinals, basement dwellers of the NFC West in two of Gannon’s three seasons at the helm, have a monumental decision at quarterback looming this offseason.

Kyler Murray, the Cardinals’ No. 1 overall pick in 2019, is due $36.8 million in guaranteed salary for the upcoming season, according to Over the Cap.

The former Oklahoma product, who had been sidelined since Week 5 with a foot injury, was officially shut down for the season in December.

In five appearances this year, Murray tossed six touchdowns against three interceptions and rushed for a score.

The Cardinals then turned to journeyman Jacoby Brissett.

A former third-round pick with the Patriots in 2016, Brissett signed a two-year, $12.5 million contract with the Cardinals in March.

The Cardinals hold the third overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft behind the Raiders and Jets, respectively.
