Chris Pratt announced that he’s bringing the story about army combat chaplains, “Fighting Spirit: A Combat Chaplain’s Journey,” to the big screen in time for Veteran’s Day.
“Whether you call this a prayer, an affirmation, or even a challenge, share this message as we prepare to tell the stories of combat chaplains and our daily heroes that inspire us all,” a post shared on Instagram by the 45-year-old actor about the upcoming movie read. “We may be tempted to believe, that the things dividing us are larger than those uniting us. In those moments, we become aware of our need for heroes.”
“Which is why we take a moment to give thanks for those special people who: Provide hope, Comfort the hurting, and inspire a fighting spirit within us all,” it added. “These unsung heroes are our combat chaplains…”
Pratt is executive producer on the documentary directed by Rich Hull and executive produced by former combat chaplain Justin D. Roberts, movie guide noted.
“I’m so excited for audiences to see this film theatrically on Veterans Day,” Pratt said. “The work done by combat chaplains to support our soldiers through issues of life and death on the frontlines is truly extraordinary, and to be part of celebrating this story of a chaplain’s journey in such a cinematic way is an honor.”
MATT WALSH’S ‘AM I RACIST?’ COMING TO DAILYWIRE+ OCT. 28
The movie starts with the journey home of Catholic priest and prisoner-of-war Army combat chaplain Emil Kapaun after his body was identified 70 years later, Deadline noted.
“Remains of POW chaplain Emil Kapaun identified after 70 years,” a description on IMDb read. “Another chaplain embarks on journey to greet them, inspired by 419 chaplains’ sacrifices. The convergence of their paths from different eras leads to a healing moment.”
“Chris Pratt is an icon of the big screen, and to see him spark to our film so genuinely is an incredible compliment,” Hull said. “We’re so grateful to partner with him, along with Scott Kennedy, Bryce Campbell, and our friends at Falling Forward Films, to bring this unique story to theaters on November 8th.”
“Fighting Spirit” hits select theaters nationwide in November. Check out the website for tickets and more information.
