College football games, scores, updates: Notre Dame vs. Texas A&M, Fresno State vs. Michigan and more

It’s the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, which means the full chaos of college football has truly arrived.

No. 1 Georgia got things started with an absolute show of force, blasting No. 14 Clemson 34-3 in their season opener. Heisman favorite Carson Beck was on point throughout the marquee showdown, throwing for 278 yards and two touchdowns in the win.

No. 19 Miami handled in-state rival Florida in the afternoon window as new QB Cam Ward threw for 385 yards and three touchdowns in his debut.

Elsewhere, No. 4 Texas and No. 8 Penn State both took care of business. Arch Manning tallied the first touchdowns of his career in cleanup duty as the Longhorns rolled Colorado State and PSU QB Drew Allar looked very comfortable in the Nittany Lions’ new offense in a win over West Virginia.

Follow the rest of the action on Saturday night below.

No. 7 Notre Dame at No. 20 Texas A&M

Time: 7:30 p.m. | TV: ABC | Line: Texas A&M -3 | Total: 46.5

Notre Dame doesn’t shy away from tough openers, and this is no exception. Saturday night is QB Riley Leonard’s first game in a Notre Dame uniform after transferring to Duke, but he’ll be playing behind a revamped offensive line that lost three starters from 2023. First-year Texas A&M coach Mike Elko brings a defense that has lots of new faces but is still plenty talented. And QB Connor Weigman returns as the Aggies’ starting quarterback with the goal of staying healthy for the whole season.

Live106 updates

  • South Carolina takes the lead

South Carolina cashes in on a fumble recovery and scores a go-ahead TD on LaNorris Sellers’ keeper.

Gamecocks lead Old Dominion 23-19 with 6:11 to play.

  • It’s safe to say Jalen Milroe is comfortable in Kalen DeBoer’s offense.

  • Make it two interceptions in the first quarter for Alabama’s new safety Keon Sabb after he transferred from Michigan. That’s one way to start off the season.

  • A&M settles for a 34-yard Randy Bond field goal to take the early lead.

  • Texas A&M gets the ball first in the marquee matchup of the night and the Aggies have a nice drive going with the ball already inside the Notre Dame 20.

  • And defending champion Michigan also gets its first TD of the season with a TD pass from new starting QB Alex Orji to a familiar face, Donovan Edwards.

  • No. 3 Oregon is on the board against Idaho, via new QB Dillon Gabriel.

  • South Carolina on upset watch

We’ve got a situation developing in Columbia. Old Dominion (+20.5) leads South Carolina 19-16 with 9:55 to play.

  • The first game of the Kalen DeBoer era at Alabama is going smoothly. The Crimson Tide are up 14-0 in the first quarter and Jalen Milroe has 2 scores (one on the ground and one through the air).

  • Big development for No. 5 Alabama, leading 14-0 over Western Kentucky early.

  • Upset alert

Georgia Southern is on the verge of scoring and taking the lead against Boise State as the fourth quarter gets underway. The Broncos were a sexy pick to make the CFP and came into the game as 13-point favorites.

  • Touchdown Florida

It’s a consolation touchdown but it’s something. After Graham Mertz left the game due to injury, true freshman QB DJ Lagway led the Gators on a 9-play, 58-yard touchdown drive.

  • Final: Texas 52, Colorado State 0

What a start to the season for Texas. Quinn Ewers put on a show early and Arch Manning hammered the nail in late.

  • Arch Manning also had the first rushing touchdown of his career on Texas’ next possession, falling into the end zone for the score.

  • End of 3Q: Miami 38, Florida 10

The Hurricanes have run away with this thing and are driving to score again. It might be a long year in Gainesville.

  • Touchdown Miami!

Cam Ward is having himself a day in his Miami debut. This time he hits Jacolby George for a 23-yard touchdown — his third TD pass of the game.

  • Arch Manning throws first career touchdown

The Longhorns are blowing out Colorado State. You know what that means: Arch Manning time.
