Yes, this is a baseball score.

The Columbia Lions baseball team was swept by No. 11 Oregon in a four-game series in Eugene over the weekend, which included a jaw-dropping 35-1 loss in the first game of a doubleheader Saturday.

And to the surprise of no one, the tweet of the final score from the Lions’ baseball account drew some reactions.

“Lord have mercy,” one commenter wrote in reaction.

“I thought you couldn’t score one point in football,” joked another.

A third said, “Nobody shuts out Columbia Baseball!” which drew nearly 5,000 likes on X.

Columbia dropped to 1-6 on the young baseball season, which just started in February.

Oregon won the series opener on Friday, 20-11, took Game 2 of Saturday’s doubleheader, 8-3, and won Sunday’s finale, 7-0.

Anthony Temesvary drove in Columbia’s only run during the 35-1 whooping, which was a sacrifice fly in the top of the second inning that cut the deficit to 2-1.

That marked the closest Columbia would be all game sans the top of the first.

Oregon responded with 13 runs over the next two innings to take a 15-1 lead, added three runs each in the fourth and fifth innings and later poured on eight in the sixth and six in the eighth for good measure.

Columbia starter Thomas Santana allowed six runs in 1 2/3 innings before the Ducks battered three relievers.

Evan Kleinhans surrendered 12 runs spanning two innings, AJ Vallie yielded seven runs across five outs and Andrew Agenziano allowed 10 runs in 2 2/3 innings.

Five Oregon players drove in at least four runs, with two players tallying six RBIS.

Things don’t get any easier for Columbia as it next faces No. 6 Georgia in Athens for a three-game series starting Friday.
