Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz didn’t hold back Thursday night, delivering a high-octane address at Day 2 of the RNC midterm convention that blew the roof off the hall and laid bare what he called a direct, existential threat to the Republic.
Speaking just 54 days out from what he dubbed “the most consequential midterms of our lifetime,” Cruz launched into an impassioned, unapologetic defense of American freedom, taking aim squarely at an emerging “red-green alliance” of radicals, communists, and Islamists he warned are rapidly taking over the Democratic Party.
“They are united because they share the same enemies,” Cruz said to a roaring crowd. “They hate Christians, they hate Jews, they hate capitalism, they hate the Constitution, and they hate America!”
For Cruz, the danger hits close to home. Invoking his family’s escape from communist Cuba, the Texas powerhouse reminded the audience that authoritarian oppression isn’t just a history lesson; it’s a living nightmare. He pointed to the brutal reality of communist regimes from the Soviet gulags and Mao’s China to modern-day Cuba and Venezuela, while forcefully calling out the barbarism of radical Islamism.
“Hear me now: Sharia law has no place in America,” Cruz declared, drawing massive applause. “Sharia law is fundamentally inconsistent with the Constitution, and we need to stand together and stop it now.”
Refusing to mince words, Cruz called out left-wing figures and mainstream Democrats by name, warning voters to take radical rhetoric at face value and calling out party leadership for caving to the far-left fringe out of political cowardice. He stated:
A simple truth. When people tell you who they are, believe them. When Hasan Piker says America deserved 9-11, believe him. When Mamdani says he wants to seize the means of production, he means it. When Abdul Al-Sayed says he has a “obligation” to comply with Sharia law, he means it. And when James Tallarico says he wants to dismantle capitalism, he means it.
Closing with a fiery rallying cry, Cruz invoked the legacy of American exceptionalism and called on patriots across all 50 states to draw a line in the sand.
“If we lose our freedom here, where do we go? We go nowhere,” Cruz warned. “Together, arm in arm, we must save America.”
