Dad reveals haunting final words of hero daughter who drowned trying to save cousin

A grieving father revealed the haunting last words his hero daughter said to him before she drowned while attempting to save her nine-year-old cousin.

Glenn Bradley, of Detroit, recalled the moment of horror when his daughter Aamina, 14, began getting pulled into a current at Maheras-Gentry Park after her cousin fell into the river over the weekend.

Bradley, a father-of-three, jumped in to try and rescue her, with the teen looking at him in despair as the current pulled her under before he could save her.

“Her last words were, ‘Dad help me’, as she looked at me,” he told local WXYZ. “When I went out there, she disappeared, she went under and never came back up.

“Somebody had to save me because I was drowning,” he added of the desperate situation.

Bystanders were able to save Bradley and the nine-year-old from the river, but Aamina drowned before anyone could get to her, with police pulling her body out of the river.

The grieving dad, who raised Aamina with his mother’s help after the teen’s biological mother left, said he had gotten into an argument with her on the night before the incident.

“The night before, we talked because she had been upset with me, and we talked for a while. She jumped in bed and cried, gave me the biggest hug,” he told the Daily Mail.

“The next morning when she got up, she jumped in the bed with me, gave me a hug and a kiss and told me she loved me,” Bradley added.

The incident took place while the family was celebrating Aamina’s brother’s graduation at the public park.

Bradley said his entire family was heartbroken over Aamina’s death, with the father still coming to terms with losing his daughter.

“She was my favorite girl in the world… [It] doesn’t really feel real,” he told the Mail. “I have moments when I break down. Other moments, I’m mostly numb.”
