The Jets’ “bad freaking loss” to the Broncos on Sunday sits squarely on head coach Robert Saleh’s shoulders.
That’s according to former NFL guard Damien Woody, who went scorched earth on the fourth-year Jets coach Monday during an appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up.”
Woody torched Saleh over his squad’s “sloppy” and penalty-filled performance against Denver in the 10-9 home defeat.
“What the hell is going on, Robert?… This team looks sloppy, they look inept, I mean, what are we doing here? This is supposed to be a game where clearly the Jets are supposed to win this game, and your team can’t stay on damn on-side? This is clearly on coaching,” said Woody, who joined the Jets in 2008 and retired three years later.
“What the hell is going on Robert [Saleh]? … This team looks sloppy. … It’s unacceptable. It’s a bad freaking loss and I put that strictly on the head coach.”

The Jets committed 13 penalties on Sunday, including five false starts.
The discussion then pivoted to Aaron Rodgers’ signature cadence, which Saleh said the team would evaluate afterward.
“We’ve got to figure it out, whether or not we’re good enough or ready to handle all the cadence,” Saleh said postgame, adding “it took a major step back.”
Rodgers, however, had a different take on the idea of tapering things down.
“That’s one way to do it,” the four-time league MVP said. “The other way is to hold them accountable.”
Woody, who also played for the Patriots and Lions during his 12-year career, stressed how cadence has long been a Rodgers strength.
“How many times through Aaron Rodgers’ career have we see him use the cadence, draw teams offside and then, all of the sudden, big play happens? We see that time and time again with Aaron Rodgers, and then you’re going to come out in the postgame and say, ‘Oh because our guys can’t stay on sides maybe we shouldn’t use it?’ I can’t even use the word I want to use right now, B.S., figure it out,” Woody said.
“Aaron Rodgers is absolutely right, maybe if the guys had some discipline and stayed there behind onsides, maybe Aaron Rodgers could use that weapon to his advantage. I’m so sick of the Jets being undisciplined as a team, it’s been that way since Robert Saleh has been there and it showed up yesterday against a team starting a freaking rookie quarterback. It’s unacceptable, it’s a bad freaking loss, and I put that strictly on the head coach.”
The Jets were heavily favored to top the Broncos, which featured the fourth career start from rookie quarterback Bo Nix, who went 12 of 25 for 60 yards and one touchdown.
Woody wasn’t the only sports media personality who destroyed Saleh over his team’s putrid performance.
Mike Francesa said the Jets were “so badly prepared mentally and physically,” and likened Saleh to a “fool.”
Elsewhere, ESPN’s Mike Greenberg posted on X that the Jets “are a very, very badly coached football team” and “that will very likely be their undoing.”
Now 2-2, Gang Green is entering a pivotal stretch of its schedule that kicks off Sunday with a trip to London to face the undefeated Vikings (4-0) and former Jets quarterback Sam Darnold.
They’ll host the Bills (3-1) the following week on “Monday Night Football.”
