An elite sheriff’s deputy was allegedly caught swiping on a dating app during a standoff with a suspect following a high-speed chase, according to a viral video.

Footage captured by a news helicopter shows a Special Enforcement Bureau officer for the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office swiping on what seems to be a matchmaking site just feet away from an armed and barricaded suspect during a standoff.

The deputy was crouched down behind a bearcat vehicle, scrolling through profiles and swiping left on them. He eventually put the phone away.

The county sheriff is looking into the situation, it said.

“This behavior does not reflect the standards, expectations, or policies of our department,” the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.

“We have initiated an internal investigation and will take appropriate action based on the findings. The sheriff’s office remains committed to professionalism and holding out employees accountable.”

The standoff happened after an intense car chase where the suspect allegedly crashed into a wall near a school.

Riverside County Sheriff’s Department officers were seen speeding after the white Cadillac on Antigua Drive in Jurupa Valley on Wednesday.

The chase went viral for the attempted use of a new Batman-like grappling device, which hooked from the police car to the vehicle and spun it out of control and into the guardrails.

The car then slammed head-on into a thick concrete wall, crumpling its front end.

After the crash, there was a three-hour standoff where authorities tried to negotiate with the suspect. The suspect refused to exit the car, leading deputies to utilize drones, armored vehicles, and eventually tear gas.

Cops after broaching the vehicle later discovered the man dead from what authorities determined to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
