Enes Kanter Freedom might have a new challenge ahead of him, and it’s not playing in the WNBA.
Kanter appeared as a guest on “Fox News @ Night” on Thursday evening and was shown a clip of former U.S. women’s soccer star Megan Rapinoe calling him out on her podcast, saying “Why are you like this?” — to which he responded by issuing her a challenge.
“So, Megan Rapinoe, I’m speaking directly to you. After your washed-up career, you’ve been seeking attention, and I will give you that attention because I’m a nice guy,” Freedom said during his Fox News appearance. “… So here I am, I am offering you $5 million to any charity you want. If you beat me 1-on-1 in soccer, I promise you, any charity you want, I will be donating $5 million.”
Freedom went on to say he would name the place and time, and expects Rapinoe to show up.
“You were seeking attention, and here it is,” Freedom said.
Freedom’s comments toward the former Olympic gold medalist continued to spiral as he said: “You are one of those female athletes that advocate in males playing in women’s sports.”
The newly formed feud between Freedom and Rapinoe comes after what’s been a long 21 days, as he said on Aug. 7 that he was planning to enter the 2027 WNBA Draft as a transgender athlete and did so a few days later.
Since he made his decision to enter the WNBA draft, he’s been posting videos of himself working out while calling it his “transition to the WNBA.”
Freedom has faced backlash for his decision to join the WNBA after having an 11-year NBA career.
On Sunday, he was escorted out of a Chicago Sky game after getting into an exchange with Natasha Cloud, in which she told him, “She’s not going to sleep with you,” as he was seen cheering on Fever player Sophie Cunningham.
On Tuesday, The Mirror US reported that Sparks star Cameron Brink called him “a stupid piece of s–t.” She went on to say he is trying to “stay relevant.”
