Erika Kirk left court Monday as a former campus police officer described seeing her husband, Turning Point USA founder Charlie, killed last September — kicking off an emotional week of testimony.
Kirk was seen leaving the courtroom with Charlie’s parents and other family members as Officer Chris Bagley described hearing a rifle shot and watching Charlie Kirk collapse during an event on the campus of Utah Valley University.
Kirk’s mother, Kathryn Kirk, a tissue pack, and bowed her head as she listened to the testimony, Fox 13 reported from the courtroom.
Robinson himself, who appeared in-person wearing a grey suit, had his wrists shackled to a chain around his waist, the outlet observed.
He appeared to be stoic, occasionally taking notes, as the council examined witnesses.
Judge Tony Graf emphasized that attendees may return to court once they had left, when the court reconvened.
The hearing, which will continue through this week, will determine if the evidence against 23-year-old Robinson is strong enough to go to trial.
