French Olympic gymnast Gaël Da Silva dead in car crash at 41

Olympic gymnast Gaël Da Silva died Tuesday in a car accident, according to The U.S. Sun.

He was 41.

No other details regarding the incident were reported, as of Friday morning.

Da Silva, whose nickname was “Gaou,” competed for Team France in the 2012 London Olympics.

He is survived by his wife Camille and their three children: Hugo, 12, Jules, 9, and Lou, 6, according to the outlet.

Da Silva attended the French Team Championships in Amiens 10 days before the tragic accident, according to French outlet L’Equipe.

He reportedly was working as a technical sales representative for Gymnova, a equipment provider, before he died.

Da Silva won a bronze medal in the floor exercise at the 2012 European Championships before competing in the London Olympics that year.

France finished eighth and failed to medal in the event.

In 2004, Da Silva was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle and was seriously injured, he previously shared on social media.
