An afterschool tutor at Fresno High School allegedly exchanged child sex abuse material with children online and arranged to meet a minor, the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday.
Keebtsim Txhim Christopher Xiong, 26, of Fresno, was arrested after an investigation by the state’s task force on internet crimes against children. The force is comprised of 68 federal, state and local law enforcement agencies spread throughout nine counties in the Central Valley.
Someone had alerted the task force that Xiong was communicating inappropriately with children on messaging platform Discord. Among the messages were sexually explicit material, detectives alleged.
With one of the children, he allegedly sent messages attempting to arrange a meetup.
Xiong had worked as a tutor through the California Teaching Fellows Foundation, a nonprofit which describes itself as “providing school districts and school sites with trained college students and future leaders who serve as role models, tutors, and activity leaders.”
The foundation has a contract with Fresno Unified School District, and the foundation has placed Xiong on administrative leave.
Xiong paid his $100,000 bail to be released from jail and will have a future court date.
Additional victims may come forward, detectives said. Anyone with more information is urged to contact the Fresno County Sheriff.
