Ghoulish trolls are making the same sick joke about tourist found savaged by dingoes on Aussie beach

Ghoulish online trolls are taunting the family of a 19-year-old tourist who was found dead on a remote Australian beach surrounded by dingoes — and they are all making the same sick joke.

Canadian backpacker Piper James died on her “trip of a lifetime” and her body was savaged by the wild dogs — which hunt in packs of up to 12 and can grow to 50 lbs.

Her body was found Jan. 19 on Seventy Five Mile Beach in Queensland, about 145 miles north of Brisbane.

She left her campsite early in the morning for a swim and never returned, according to her family.

An autopsy later revealed she likely drowned.

Initial reports said James’ body was discovered surrounded by a pack of native dingoes, and she had suffered multiple injuries.

Online trolls flooded social media, disgustingly comparing James’ death to the infamous 1980 case of Azaria Chamberlain, whose mother was falsely accused of murder after claiming “a dingo ate my baby!”

That line was popularized in a 1991 Seinfeld episode where Elaine retorts in a bad Australian accent, “maybe a dingo took your baby.”

The mother of James’ travel buddy, Taylor, blasted the cruel jokes and taunts posted online, writing on Facebook, “Social media can be a powerful place to share both the highs and the lows of life. We have been overwhelmingly [touched] by the love and concern people have shared.”

“On the flip side, in these moments, it has been incredibly difficult to witness the hurtful comments and the heartless side of humanity that sometimes emerges alongside support,” she wrote.

Dingo attacks on humans are rare, but not unheard of.

The last human killed by dingoes was a 9-year-old who was mauled 25 years ago on the same island where James died.

Amid the online speculation on whether dingoes were responsible for James’ death, a Queensland coroner found that drowning was the most likely cause of death.

A preliminary assessment indicated that the dingo bites on her body were likely caused after death, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation reported yesterday.

“The autopsy has found physical evidence consistent with drowning and injures consistent with dingo bites,” a Queensland Coroner’s office spokesperson said.

“Pre-mortem dingo bite marks are not likely to have caused immediate death. There are extensive post-mortem dingo bite marks,” noting that no other person is believed to be involved.
