Gov. Kathy Hochul will not call on Mayor Eric Adams to resign, but wants to increase state oversight powers over the embattled mayor, a source familiar told The Post.
Hochul plans to pen ethics legislation meant to give the state more guardrails for the mayor and senior City Hall officials, NY1 first reported.

Hochul is stopping short of calling for Adams’ resignation, but is not ruling out removing the mayor, the source said.
It’s unclear however, how Hochul’s latest move might fare in the state legislature.
Leaders in the state Senate and Assembly were both taken off guard by the news of Hochul’s plans. Sources say they hadn’t been looped in by the governor’s office.
