Influencer hotspot suffers ‘significant damage’ in West Hollywood water main break: ‘Don’t yet know’ when they’ll reopen

A West Hollywood hotspot cafe usually crawling with influencers suffered debilitating damage after an overnight water main break, with the location’s future now uncertain.

Dialog Cafe said the business “sustained significant damage,” and it’s unclear when they’ll reopen. Early morning videos showed floodwaters rushing into the cafe and down Palm Ave after a century-old pressurized pipe burst, sending water flowing everywhere.

“Right now, our entire focus is on cleaning up, assessing the damage, and doing everything we can to restore the space that has been home to so many memories over the past 15 years,” the business wrote in an emotional Instagram post.

“Dialog has always been more than a café to us. It’s where friendships begin, celebrations happen, ideas are born, and our community comes together every single day. Seeing our home like this is truly heartbreaking.

“We know this road may not be easy, but we also know the strength of this community. Your messages, kindness, and encouragement already mean more than words can express. Thank you for standing with us. We can’t wait for the day we can welcome you back through our doors.”

Photos from the cafe showed mud scrawled across the front patio and inside the business.

Water from the main break is no longer flowing like it was, but several buildings in the area have suffered damage.

The break caused property damage to businesses, homes and parking garages; smashed cars together; and even caused two men to fall into a sinkhole created by the flooding. The two men appeared to be fine.

West Hollywood Mayor John Heilman said at a press conference that “all of our residents, to our knowledge, are safe.”

Heilman told The California Post in an interview that the flooding was “significant” after the main broke and the city is going door-to-door to check on buildings and residents.

“Obviously a lot of people are still in a state of shock,” he said. “They have had water damage to their sub-garages. Their cars have been significantly damaged. We also have a couple of units that have been impacted. Right now, people are just trying to assess the damage, get people out to help them with the repairs and the remediation.”

Celebrities like mega pop-star Justin Bieber have been spotted at Dialog Cafe. Fellow pop singer Katy Perry shouted the business out at a Kia Forum concert last year.
