Jerry Jones is putting a positive spin on what is a bleak situation for the Cowboys.

The team owner and general manager isn’t giving up on the 2024 season despite Dallas sitting at 3-5 after their third straight loss on Sunday, this time to the Falcons. Quarterback Dak Prescott and star receiver CeeDee Lamb both left the game with injuries.

The Cowboys have been in this situation before, looking back to 2018 when the team was 3-4 and Jones made a move to add Amari Cooper, which did result in Dallas making it to the divisional round of the playoffs.

With the NFL’s trade deadline on Tuesday, Jones sounded open to doing whatever he needed to in order to improve the team’s posture.

“We’re going to do everything we can, at all times, to improve this team, and in our judgment, if what you have to give up helps improve it, we’ll do it,” Jones said, according to ESPN. “I know everybody understands. I don’t think I have to say it, but we’ll go for it.”

The Cowboys owner told reporters that they “have some things in the mill” and that the feeling is that “we got a shot, we think, to improve our roster.”

The Cowboys have started off the year well below expectations and the pressure has mounted since the losses have piled up.

The three-game losing streak is the Cowboys’ first since 2020.

“Well, I am. I am,” Jones said when he was asked if he was all in for the season. “And you say, ‘Boy, things are looking pretty bleak right here,’ but candidly, I’ve seen situations that look bleak turn around.”

Jones also gave head coach Mike McCarthy a vote of confidence for the job he has done.

“I’m good with Mike,” Jones said. “I know how hard he works. I like his football mind. I know how good he works. He’s got, in my mind, an outstanding coaching record. He’s really good with the players. They think highly of him. But he’s got a lot of fire in his belly. And so I’m just giving you this: I like the positives I see.”
