When he’s ready, let him play. Let the dog run free. Let him hunt for footballs, sniff the end zone and graze in it. Over and over and over again.

Make no mistake: Malik Nabers is hungry.

But the 23-year-old Giants star receiver is also trying to be smart and cautious as he makes his way back from the gruesome right knee injury he suffered 324 days ago, in a Sept. 28 game against the Chargers.

The moment Giants doctors clear Nabers to play — everyone in the team’s building is willing that to be in time for the night of the Sept. 13 season opener against the Cowboys — their most dynamic offensive weapon must play.
