The Los Angeles Lakers have two new majority owners with quite the impressive pedigree.
News broke on Wednesday morning that the Lakers were sold to American businessmen Josh Kushner and Bob Iger for $12.5 billion, which is the biggest sale of a North American sports franchise in history.
Both Iger and Kushner are happily married. Iger has been married to Willow Bay (who serves as the dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism) since 1995.
Kushner has been married to Karlie Kloss—who is a supermodel, was a Victoria’s Secret Angel from 2013 to 2015, and has been on 40 international Vogue issue covers—since 2018.
Kushner and Kloss split time between their $29.5 million beachfront house in Malibu, California, and a $23.5 million waterfront mansion in Miami. But with this Lakers sale, it seems likely that the couple will be spending much more of their time in Malibu.
Kloss was recently in Los Angeles for an event, which she spoke about in an Instagram post on Friday that was captioned, “What an amazing night in LA, sharing our 3 films on reproductive justice, Everybody’s Fight. As we gear up for fall, these stories are a good reminder of how important it is to take action and VOTE. Thank you @utafoundation for hosting us and to @culturehousemedia your continued partnership – couldn’t do this without you. ❤️”.
Kloss is also a philanthropist, and this recent event she posted about was clearly a byproduct of that.
Lakers fans will want to keep an eye on Kloss in the future, as she has just become one of the most prominent women within the Lakers’ organization.
