President Trump argued on Friday that “a little more time” in Iran would allow the US to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and take the oil.

Earlier this week, the President suggested that he could withdraw troops from the Middle East and force Europe, Asia, and the Gulf nations to deal with Iran’s blockade on the Strait of Hormuz after they refused his calls for help. His comments came amid reports that Trump was ready to pull out of the war without reopening the Strait.

He further stated on Wednesday that the US military’s objectives in Iran are “nearing completion.”

However, in a Truth Social post on Friday, the President wrote, “With a little more time, we can easily OPEN THE HORMUZ STRAIT, TAKE THE OIL, & MAKE A FORTUNE. IT WOULD BE A “GUSHER” FOR THE WORLD??? President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

This comes after Trump addressed the nation on Wednesday and said the US will continue to hit Iran “extremely hard” for at least “the next two to three weeks.”

Trump also doubled down on his prior calls for Europe and the Gulf to take over the Strait of Hormuz, stating, “The United States imports almost no oil through the Hormuz Strait, and won’t be taking any in the future. We don’t need it. We haven’t needed it, and we don’t need it.” He continued, “The countries of the world that do receive oil through the Hormuz Strait must take care of that passage. They must cherish it. They must grab it and cherish it. They can do it easily. We will be helpful, but they should take the lead in protecting the oil that they so desperately depend on.”

“In the meantime, discussions are ongoing,” he said, noting that “If there is no deal, we are going to hit each and every one of their electric generating plants very hard and probably simultaneously.”

Trump later posted a video of Iran’s B1 bridge in Karaj, the tallest bridge in the Middle East, being destroyed in an airstrike on Thursday.

“The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again — Much more to follow! IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, AND THERE IS NOTHING LEFT OF WHAT STILL COULD BECOME A GREAT COUNTRY! President DONALD J. TRUMP,” Trump said on Thursday.
