Justin Bieber stuns MacArthur Park onlookers with surprise concert

Justin Bieber turned LA’s most infamous park into a surprise stage Tuesday when he turned up at MacArthur Park for an impromptu performance.

A space typically known for its drug use and trash got a break from the grime as the 32-year-old singer broke into a casual live set, drawing the attention of onlookers nearby.

Bieber performed surprise and unreleased tracks including “SPEED DEMON,” “ALL I CAN TAKE” and “Yukon,” giving fans an unexpected taste of what he’s been working on.

The low-key appearance was a far cry from the singer’s usual arena-sized productions, with Bieber appearing to simply drop in, perform and mingle at the park.

He headlined Coachella earlier this year, drawing a massive crowd for a career-spanning set that included songs from his recent albums as well as throwbacks like “Baby,” “Never Say Never” and “Beauty and a Beat.” The festival marked one of Bieber’s biggest live appearances since largely stepping away from touring in 2022.

Bieber may not be a total stranger to MacArthur Park. In 2021, the hitmaker surprised students at the nearby MacArthur Park Visual and Performing Arts Elementary with a mini-concert, performing “Intentions” and “Holy” as part of a back-to-school event.

Videos from the surprise performance quickly circulated online.

“He chose the place where not many girls were gonna be at omg!!!! I wish i was there!!!!” One user commented.

“It’s wild to think that Justin is one of the few celebrities who does this out in the open,” another person wrote. “I’m really happy for the people who witnessed it.”

Earlier this month Los Angeles County’s top prosecutor hosted a picnic in the park, a promise he made as part of an effort to “clean up” the notorious spot back in June.

At least 37 people have been arrested across major joint federal and local drug operations at MacArthur Park this year.
