Kings vs. Rockets prediction, odds: NBA player props, picks, best bets

Parlays and trends are two betting elements that separate recreational from professional bettors.

Parlays are pretty self-explanatory.

Squares like them because they are enamored with the thought of risking a little to win a lot. Sportsbooks advertise and market them for a reason — they represent the house’s largest hold percentage.

Trends also prey on public bettors.

Gamblers by nature have FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out).

A betting trend that suggests “easy money” is a tantalizing shiny object to gamblers itching for a quick buck.

With that being said, every trend has the potential to offer genuine betting value.

That is why I assess them in a vacuum and feel each must be considered separately.

This is one lesson I have tried to impart on New York Post readers, as I am a documented 29-15 ATS so far with my wagers in this section.

The latest win involved a Malik Monk scoring trend.

Betting on the NBA?

Monk is the new starting point guard for the Sacramento Kings, following the trade of De’Aaron Fox that netted Zach LaVine.

Since LaVine joined the lineup, Monk has gone under his points prop in seven of nine games. Oddsmakers have not adjusted Monk’s prop off 19.5 points, and I think this trend can continue for tangible reasons.

As Sacramento’s sixth man, Monk went from racking up points against mostly reserve guards to facing starters.

Sacramento Kings guard Malik Monk (0) drives against Utah Jazz guard Keyonte George (3) during the first half of an NBA basketball game, Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2025, in Salt Lake City.

Plus, he is now tasked with running an offense and keeping key players satisfied. LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Domantas Sabonis all need shots, and Monk’s scoring has been the trade-off so far.

Thus, this is an example of a betting trend that has legitimacy and is predictive.

So, if it ain’t broke, let’s not fix it.

I will continue to ride Under 19.5, as the Kings visit the Houston Rockets, who rank third in defensive efficiency.
