Lakers’ Jarred Vanderbilt shares graphic photos of gruesome finger injury: ‘Looks like a chicken wing’

Jarred Vanderbilt is finally showing what his finger looked like after it was badly dislocated in a playoff game last month.

And, as one would expect, it’s gross.

In a series of pictures the Lakers forward posted to his secret Instagram page on Monday, Vanderbilt revealed that after he broke his pinky during Game 1 of Los Angeles’ series with the Thunder, bone and blood were very visible.

In the first snap, Vanderbilt’s digit could be seen pointing in a direction it was never meant to go. In a second picture, medical professionals could be seen repairing it with gloves and sterile water.

The images shocked his fans, with one writing on X that it “legit looks like a chicken wing.”

Vanderbilt sustained the injury as he tried to block a shot in the second quarter of Los Angeles’ loss. He accidentally smacked his hand against the backboard, causing a gnarly wound.

The scene was so grotesque, it actually horrified the Thunder bench.

Vanderbilt ended up missing Game 2 and Game 3 of the postseason series while dealing with the ailment, but he made his return to the floor in Game 4.

Vanderbilt’s yet to provide an update on how the recovery is going, but he sure appeared to be in good spirits in other photos he shared in the carousel — a good sign for Vanderbilt, the Lakers and anyone with a squeamish stomach.
