Newly released law enforcement bodycam footage obtained by the California Post reveals a chaotic 4:20 a.m. confrontation outside Miami’s notorious 24-hour strip club and nightclub E11EVEN, where officers were forced to draw a taser directly at WNBA player Paige Bueckers.
The wild incident, which occurred on March 5th following a championship party, resulted in the arrest of Bueckers and Dallas Wings teammate Arike Ogunbowale.
According to police affidavits, Ogunbowale allegedly struck a nightclub worker in the face with a closed fist before officers intervened to restore order.
When Miami police officers arrived on the scene to regain control of the rowdy crowd, video footage shows a tense standoff. As officers moved in to detain Ogunbowale, sports elite and onlookers swarmed the arresting officers.
When Bueckers and fellow player Jackie Young stepped into the officer’s path, attempting to shield Ogunbowale, an officer was forced to unholster his Taser, pointing the less-lethal weapon directly at Young’s chest and then squarely at Bueckers’ face while repeatedly ordering the crowd to “Back up!”
Rather than complying with standard law enforcement commands, members of the entourage threw temper tantrums at the police for simply doing their jobs. Unrivaled host Maria Clifton was captured on video screaming at the arresting officer:
“Stop it. Do not put handcuffs on her. Are you f*ing kidding me? She’s a champion. Get off her, she did nothing!”
