Dre Greenlaw is going back to Cali.

The 28-year-old linebacker is reuniting with the 49ers on a one-year, $7.5 million contract, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Thursday.

Greenlaw, a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, spent the first seven years of his pro career in a San Francisco uniform, but left for Denver in free agency last year.

The Broncos inked him to a three-year, $31.5 million deal, and had high expectations for him in their defense.

But injuries – and a one-game suspension due to unsportsmanlike conduct — limited him to just eight games.

In those contests, he recorded 43 combined tackles, one sack and one interception. He was released by the team with a post-June 1 designation earlier this week.

Greenlaw’s best years in the NFL came in 2022 and 2023, when he logged over 100 tackles in each season.

In the ’23 playoffs, he helped the Niners get to the Super Bowl against Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs, but he blew out his Achilles during the middle of the game and was forced to miss almost the entirety of the 2024 season while recovering.

The addition is now the second big one to the Niners’ defense this week — on Wednesday, they traded a third-round pick for Cowboys defensive lineman Osa Odighizuwa.
