In case anyone noticed, Joaquin Niemann won LIV Golf New York at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster on Sunday in New Jersey.
Niemann’s wire-to-wire victory with a finish of 16 under par came a week after Donald Trump, at age 80, won the club championship with a reported gross score of 70 on the same golf course on which 14 of the 56 LIV players failed to shoot a single round of 70 or lower all week.
It was Niemann’s ninth victory since joining LIV Golf, which leaves him well behind the president of the United States, who claims to own more than 40 championships — all at clubs he owns, including the “senior’’ and “super senior’’ divisions last week.
In case anyone noticed, Jon Rahm wrapped up his third consecutive season-long individual championship — although no thanks to any superior play on his part this week as he finished 8 over par. But it was enough because his nearest challenger, Bryson DeChambeau, failed to make a move, finishing his forgettable week at 7 over.
