Massive SF Bay rescue underway after boat overturns near Alcatraz

At least one person is dead and another person is still missing amid a massive rescue effort  near Alcatraz in the San Francisco Bay.

Video online shows the rescue efforts of crews trying to help people after a boat accident in the water between Alcatraz Island and the Golden Gate Bridge.

There’s more than a dozen rescue personnel on scene. Unconfirmed reports are there was some kind of fire on the boat, per ABC 7.

The Coastguard has confirmed that at least one person has died and 17 people were rescued from the icy cold water in the bay,

During the rescue, the boat ended up becoming totally submerged.

Rescue efforts continue in the water, as officials confirm that one person is still missing.

Several other people were transported to the hospital.

This is a developing story.

Earlier this week, a capsized sailboat in San Francisco Bay triggered a rescue off the San Mateo County coast as three sailors ended up in the water.
