Matt LaFleur wasn’t exactly thrilled with the Jordan Love line of questioning following Sunday’s 24-14 loss to the Lions at home.
During a postgame press conference, the Packers coach got chippy when asked about the 26-year-old quarterback’s uneven play, which has included 10 interceptions through seven games this season.
“You guys are going to make — I understand, it’s really annoying up here though. Like, you know, we’re obviously — he’s fighting. He’s competing. We know that we’ve gotta take care of the football. But I don’t question anything about what he’s trying to do. We just gotta do it better,” LaFleur said, as covered by Awful Announcing.
Love, who was coming off a groin injury sustained in a Week 8 win to the Jaguars, went 23-of-39 for 273 yards and an interception against Detroit.
Sunday also marked the seventh straight game Love has turned the ball over. That stat is alarming given Love — the Packers’ first-round pick in 2020 — threw 11 interceptions in 2023.
“Putting the ball in jeopardy way too many times and definitely something I have to clean up,” Love said, according to Sports Illustrated.
“I’ve talked about it week after week, so something I’ve just got to learn from these mistakes and clean it up. Definitely something that I’m going to make a big focus on going forward, of just finding ways to take care of the ball better.”
The Packers now enter the bye week at 6-3 and third in the NFC North behind the Lions (7-1) and Vikings (6-2).
They’ll return to action against the division rival Bears (4-4) on Nov. 17 before hosting the 49ers in a rematch of last year’s divisional round showdown.
The 49ers bested the Packers 24-21 en route to a Super Bowl berth.
