Meet USMNT World Cup 2026 roster: From star Christian Pulisic to potential X-factor Alex Freeman

Here are the 26 players comprising the USMNT’s World Cup 2026 roster.

Christian Pulisic

Age: 27

Club: AC Milan

Height: 5-foot-7 ½, Weight: 152 pounds

Position: Striker, left wing

Hometown: Hershey, Pa.

What to know: Pulisic is the face of the national team, but his form is a question mark going into the World Cup. His last goal for Milan came in December; he did snap an 18-month-plus national-team goal drought against Senegal on May 31.

Ricardo Pepi

Age: 23

Club: PSV Eindhoven

Height: 6-foot-1, Weight: 157 pounds

Position: Striker

Hometown: San Elizario, Texas

What to know: Pepi is expected to be used off the bench in this World Cup. He comes in after a red-hot finish to the season, having scored five times in his last six games for PSV.

Folarin Balogun

Age: 24

Club: AS Monaco

Height: 5-foot-10 ½, Weight: 161 pounds

Position: Striker

Hometown: London, England

What to know: Born in Brooklyn, Balogun chose to play for the U.S. over England, where he moved as an infant. He’s the presumed starter at striker for the national team, having emerged to fill a position that was long seen as a question mark.

Haji Wright

Age: 28

Club: Coventry City

Height: 6-foot-2, Weight: 176 pounds

Position: Striker

Hometown: Los Angeles, Calif.

What to know: Wright scored the lone U.S. goal in its Round of 16 loss to the Netherlands at the last World Cup. Likely the third striker on the depth chart this year, he helped lead Coventry City to the Premier League with 17 goals in the English Championship.

Weston McKennie

Age: 27

Club: Juventus

Height: 6-foot-1, Weight: 174 pounds

Position: Attacking midfield, defensive midfield, fullback, striker

Hometown: Little Elm, Texas

What to know: McKennie is most likely to line up at attacking midfield for the national team, but his versatility is a huge asset. He’s played nearly every spot on the field for Juventus this season.

Malik Tillman

Age: 23

Club: Bayer Leverkusen

Height: 6-foot-1, Weight: 170 pounds

Position: Attacking midfield/left wing

Hometown: Nuremberg, Germany

What to know: Tillman is a heady midfielder with a threatening shot from distance. It’s not entirely clear how he’ll fit at this World Cup.

Brenden Aaronson

Age: 25

Club: Leeds United

Height: 5-foot-10, Weight: 152 pounds

Position: Attacking midfield, right midfield

Hometown: Medford, N.J.

What to know: Aaronson took impressive strides with Leeds this season, playing a key role in the club’s Premier League survival. He should be a consistent presence off the bench for the USMNT.

Gio Reyna

Age: 23

Club: Borussia Mönchengladbach

Height: 6-foot, Weight: 157 pounds

Position: Attacking midfield, right wing

Hometown: Bedford, N.Y.

What you need to know: The time spent discussing Reyna’s inclusion will far exceed the time he spends on the field at this World Cup. While his being named to the squad despite not having played much at the club level implies that Pochettino does see a role for him, and he’s quite talented, it would be a huge surprise if Reyna started any games.

Alejandro Zendejas

Age: 28

Club: Club América

Height: 5-foot-7, Weight: 146 pounds

Position: Attacking midfield

Hometown: El Paso, Texas

What to know: After just one call-up in the past 18 months, Zendejas made the World Cup squad off the back of a two-goal, one-assist performance in his last Liga MX game before the roster announcement, which punctuated a run of great form.

Tyler Adams

Age: 27

Club: AFC Bournemouth

Height: 5-foot-11, Weight: 154 pounds

Position: Defensive midfield

Hometown: Wappinger Falls, N.Y.

What to know: Though a quad injury kept Adams out of a pair of March friendlies, his place — and importance — to the national team was never in doubt. Adams captained the side in Qatar, and is a nailed-on starter as long as he’s healthy.

Cristian Roldan

Age: 30

Club: Seattle Sounders

Height: 5-foot-8, Weight: 165 pounds

Position: Defensive midfield

Hometown: Pico Rivera, Calif.

What to know: Roldan is a beloved dressing-room presence and respected leader for the national team. Having played in college for the University of Washington and spent his professional career in Seattle, the group-stage game against Australia in that city will be particularly meaningful for Roldan.

Sebastian Berhalter

Age: 25

Club: Vancouver Whitecaps

Height: 5-foot-9, Weight: 154 pounds

Position: Defensive midfield

Hometown: Columbus, Ohio

What to know: The son of former national team coach Gregg Berhalter didn’t earn his first cap for the national team until Pochettino was in charge. He could be a set-piece specialist off the bench in this World Cup, a luxury of a 26-man roster.

Antonee Robinson

Age: 28

Club: Fulham

Height: 5-foot-10 ½, Weight: 159 pounds

Position: Left back, left wing back

Hometown: Liverpool, England

What to know: Robinson’s father was raised in White Plains, giving him eligibility to play for the U.S., which he chose over England. An attacking-oriented outside back, Robinson should be a lock to start at the World Cup despite an injury-hampered season with Fulham.

Sergiño Dest

Age: 25

Club: PSV Eindhoven

Height: 5-foot-8, Weight: 152 pounds

Position: Right back, right wing back

Hometown: Almere-Stad, Netherlands

What to know: Dest was racing to recover from a hamstring injury in time for camp, but he appears to have done so after playing the full 90 in PSV’s last game of the season. If he starts at right back, it’ll clear the way for Tim Weah to play further upfield.

Alex Freeman

Age: 21

Club: Villarreal

Height: 6-foot-2, Weight: 180 pounds

Position: Right back, center back

Hometown: Baltimore, Md.

What to know: If the U.S. plays with three at the back, Freeman could be a candidate to start on the right side of the trio. A consistent performer for the national team since first getting capped last June, Freeman has forced his way into the conversation for serious playing time.

Joe Scally

Age: 23

Club: Borussia Mönchengladbach

Height: 5-foot-10 ½, Weight: 165 pounds

Position: Right back, right midfield, center back

Hometown: Lake Grove, N.Y.

What to know: One of the last names on the bubble, Scally — a New York native and former NYCFC player — just made it over the line. His versatility is an asset, but it’s difficult to see him getting much playing time.

Max Arfsten

Age: 25

Club: Columbus Crew

Height: 6-foot-1, Weight: 172 pounds

Position: Left back, left wing back

Hometown: Fresno, Calif.

What to know: Arfsten has become a mainstay under Pochettino, and has a heavily attacking style. He should see decent playing time, most likely off the bench.

Tim Weah

Age: 26

Club: Olympique Marseille

Height: 6-foot-1, Weight: 148 pounds

Position: Right wing back, right wing, right back

Hometown: Rosedale, N.Y.

What to know: Weah will be expected to start for the U.S., and he tends to aggressively push upfield in attack. Whether Pochettino wants him in a more explicitly attacking role or a traditional right back slot with more defensive responsibility will dictate a lot about the team’s overall shape.

Chris Richards

Age: 26

Club: Crystal Palace

Height: 6-foot-2, Weight: 179 pounds

Position: Center back

Hometown: Birmingham, Ala.

What to know: With the possible exception of Pulisic, Richards is the USMNT’s most important player. He’s the most reliable center back in a group that is viewed as shaky as a whole. As long as he’s healthy, Richards should never come off the field.

Tim Ream

Age: 38

Club: Charlotte FC

Height: 6-foot-1, Weight: 161 pounds

Position: Center back

Hometown: St. Louis, Mo.

What to know: Ream is one of the leaders for the USMNT, but questions abound over how much he has left in the tank at 38. His form with Charlotte hasn’t been great, but it’s hard to see how the national team can avoid depending on him.

Mark McKenzie

Age: 27

Club: Toulouse

Height: 6-foot, Weight: 176 pounds

Position: Center back

Hometown: Bear, Del.

What to know: The Bronx-born McKenzie has a good shot of starting. He put together a strong season for Toulouse and has been a consistent presence for Pochettino’s USMNT.

Auston Trusty

Age: 27

Club: Celtic

Height: 6-foot-3, Weight: 183 pounds

Position: Center back

Hometown: Media, Pa.

What to know: After dealing with a torn plantar fascia at the start of the season, Trusty was a constant in Celtic’s lineup. He’ll be firmly in the mix to start for the national team.

Miles Robinson

Age: 29

Club: FC Cincinnati

Height: 6-foot-2, Weight: 185 pounds

Position: Center back

Hometown: Arlington, Mass.

What to know: Robinson looks like the last true center back on the depth chart, but he could still have an important role to play. He’s been a regular call-up under Pochettino.

Matt Freese

Age: 27

Club: NYCFC

Height: 6-foot-4, Weight: 190 pounds

Position: Goalkeeper

Hometown: Wayne, Pa.

What to know: Freese has been Pochettino’s No. 1 in goal since last summer, but Matt Turner’s blazing form might make it a competition to start at the World Cup. Still, you have to assume Freese has the inside track.

Matt Turner

Age: 31

Club: New England Revolution

Height: 6-foot-3, Weight: 174 pounds

Position: Goalkeeper

Hometown: Park Ridge, N.J.

What to know: Turner was the starter at the last World Cup, but seems to have fallen behind Freese. After struggling to find playing time at the club level in Europe, he’s been nothing short of terrific to start this MLS season, opening the door for the World Cup.

Chris Brady

Age: 22

Club: Chicago Fire

Height: 6-foot-3, Weight: 170 pounds

Position: Goalkeeper

Hometown: Naperville, Ill.

What to know: As the third goalkeeper on the depth chart, Brady is unlikely to see the field at the World Cup. He earned the nod over Roman Celentano and Patrick Schulte.
