A pair of promising young pitchers will get the ball on Wednesday afternoon as the Mets face the Brewers in the final game of a three-game set.

The Mets are coming in as a moderate underdog (+134, Kalshi), as they will be for most of the rest of the season, with righty Christian Scott (3-1, 2.87 ERA) getting the ball this afternoon opposite fellow youngster Logan Henderson (3-1, 2.97 ERA).

Both right-handers started the season in AAA but have been thrust into action and now hold key positions in the starting rotation for both clubs.

Mets vs. Brewers prediction

From a betting perspective, not a single batter on either team has faced these pitchers before. I’m interested in targeting that very first impression that these starters will make on hitters from the opening pitch.

Neither team to score a run in the first inning opened at -135 (57.45 percent), one of the higher sides of the lines that you will see in any MLB game and quite a bit of respect to these two young pitchers.

That bears out in how well these two have pitched in the opening innings of games.

Henderson has allowed a run just one time in the first inning of his seven starts, while Scott has gone four straight first innings without allowing a run.

Scott has allowed a run in just one of his last nine first innings, a really incredible run for both starters.

Betting, of course, is not as easy as that, but I’ll take the plunge on no runs to be scored in the first inning.

As for a bet on the actual game, entering Tuesday, the Brewers have won four straight against the Mets this season.

They have returned a lot of their talent, including Francisco Lindor and Luis Robert Jr. from injuries.

It is unclear how much they will play going forward, but if the pitching is good, you’d expect the Mets to be a bit more competitive than they have been this year.

THE PLAY: No runs first inning (-135, Polymarket) | Mets moneyline (+134, Kalshi)
