Multiple people were found dead inside of a Union Pacific boxcar in Laredo, Texas, on Sunday.

According to the Laredo Police Department, a Union Pacific employee discovered at least six dead bodies in the cargo train car.

Temperatures soared into the upper 90s in Laredo, Texas, on Sunday.

Laredo, Texas, borders Mexico and has one of the largest ports of entry in the US.

A Union Pacific spokesperson said the company is “working closely with law enforcement to investigate.”

The identities and ages of the deceased have not been disclosed.

It is unclear if the deceased are illegal aliens.

Laredo Morning Times reported:

Six people were found dead inside a boxcar on a train Sunday in Laredo.

According to Laredo police, there were multiple casualties at 12101 Jim Young Way near mile marker 13 of Interstate 35.

Police said at 4:04 p.m. they confirmed multiple deceased people at the scene who were found inside a boxcar on a Union Pacific train. Police said the investigation is ongoing.

At 5:37 p.m., police said it was confirmed that six people had died.
