There are just two teams on bye this week as we head into Week 9 of the NFL season.
So that means no Brock Purdy rushing props to destroy as we have done all season.
But that doesn’t mean the quarterback rushing props stop.
We’ll continue targeting two signal caller-rushing props on weapon-deficient teams that desperately need to gain yardage this week.
Followers of last week’s props endured a rollercoaster ride as Cedric Tillman exploded as we predicted.
He was initially listed with 100 receiving yards, but shortly after the game concluded, a stat correction moved him down to 99 receiving yards.
Over 99.5 receiving yards at +1200 grades as a loser, as we move on having gone 3-1 last week, moving us to 13-14 on the season and losing .87 units.
Good bet, lousy luck; we’ll play again this week.
Week 9 NFL player props and picks
Geno Smith over 12.5 rushing yards (-114. FanDuel) | 25+ (+300, Fanatics)
Geno Smith has cleared this number in four of his past five starts.
Even more interesting is that top receiver DK Metcalf looks to be trending towards missing Week 9 as he hasn’t practiced all week.
Those two signals give me a clear over me as a bettor.
Trevor Lawrence over 11.5 rushing yards (-110, FanDuel) | 25+ (+350, ESPN BET)
Trevor Lawrence just lost Christian Kirk for the season and Brian Thomas Jr.’s status is murky this week.
With no one to look towards that he trusts, look for Lawrence to use his long legs to pick up yardage on Sunday.
He hasn’t run a lot this year, but it has increased progressively throughout the year, as he’s had a season-high in rushing attempts (four) in two of the last three weeks.
Nick Chubb over 13.5 carries (-105, DraftKings) 20+ carries (+525, Bet365)
The Browns offense is competent now that Jameis Winston is the starting quarterback.
Cedric Tillman was the beneficiary last week and Nick Chubb should also be a big winner as he finally has a quarterback that can lengthen drives and snag first downs.
Games against the Chargers are usually slug fests, so over 13.5 carries should be interesting as it is.
But don’t be surprised to see Chubb snag 20 or more if Cleveland is protecting a lead and looking to bleed clock.
