A Brooklyn brute was nabbed this week for allegedly bashing a 71-year-old man in the head with a shovel – just days after cops say he stole ribeye steak from his local supermarket.
Sean P. Abt, 24, was arrested Tuesday evening and charged with assault in connection to the random Dec. 27 attack on the septuagenarian at Stryker Court and West 1 Street in Gravesend, police said.
The bizarre shovel attack came as a post-Christmas storm blanketed the Big Apple in about four inches of snow.

The victim was taken to Coney Island Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, cops said.
Abt, of Sheepshead Bay, was also charged Tuesday for allegedly shoplifting from his neighborhood Stop & Shop, police said.
He allegedly stole ribeye steak and other beef from the store on Avenue Y near East 17th Street on Dec. 23, authorities said.

Abt has no other arrests on his record, aside from the holiday season mayhem, cops said.
His arraignments in connection to those cases were pending Wednesday.
