There’s a blemish in the Big Apple.

Hate crimes spiked by more than 70% in the five boughs last month compared to last year, led by a disturbing jump in antisemitic incidents, newly released NYPD crime stats show.

Despite historic lows in murder, shootings and other crimes, ugly hate crimes continue to buck the trend, with jumps in attacks on Jews and other targeted groups in May compared to May 2025, the stats show.

“There isn’t any shock in the Jewish community that antisemitic hate crimes have risen against our community by 70%,” Moshe Spern, president of United Jewish Teachers, told The Post Wednesday.

“When the mayor of this city continues to use libelous statements against the Jewish people and the state in his speeches and on government-issued social media, when he hosts antisemitic agitators like Mahmoud Khalil, defends his wife’s antisemitic social media history, and has an office to combat antisemitism that is literally only on paper, what do you expect?”

Lefty Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a Muslim, most recently sparked controversy by boycotting the Israel Day Parade last month, a move Jewish community leaders saw as his latest slight.

“He is contributing to this problem, and he knows he is,” Spern said.

The May crime stats follow the same pattern as the April number, which also saw huge drops in major crimes but a troubling spike in crimes against protected groups, particularly Jews.

Last month, the NYPD 68 confirmed hate crimes in the Big Apple compared to 39 in May 2025.

Of those, 41 were antisemitic incidents compared to 24 over the same month last year for a 70.8% jump, followed by 10 confirmed incidents that targeted “religion” compared to just one last year.

Cops said there were five incidents targeting Muslims last month compared to three in 2025.

The data mars an otherwise stellar report from New York’s Finest, which reported historic lows in murders and shootings, with major crimes overall down nearly 11% in May versus May 2025 — and a year-to-date drop of 6.2% in those incidents compared to the same time last year.

So far this year, the NYPD has responded to 102 murders in the five boroughs — the lowest ever recorded over the first five months of any year — compared to 129 at the same time last year.

In May, the city saw another record low of 51 shootings and 58 shooting victims, both drops over the May 2025 numbers of 53 incidents with 65 victims.

The Bronx, a troubled borough that became the department’s focus in recent months, had the biggest decrease in major crimes of all five boroughs so far this year, with an 11% drop in major crimes.

“New Yorkers across every corner of our city are benefitting from a police department that is focused and strategic,” police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said in a statement.

Video footage shows the moment Elias Rosner was stabbed in Brooklyn in a disturbing antisemitic attack.

“These accomplishments are the result of a precision policing approach that follows the data, goes after guns, takes down gangs and puts our officers where and when they are needed most,” Tisch said.

However, the department has been unable to put a bite into the growing number of hate crimes, particularly antisemitic attacks that spiked after Hamas terrorists attacked a Jewish settlement in the Gaza Strip, prompting a counter offensive by Israel.
