New York City FC will play 10 matches at Yankee Stadium in its final full season before the MLS club moves into its brand new home next to Citi Field in 2027.

NYCFC, the New York Red Bulls and the rest of Major League Soccer’s 30-member clubs released their 2026 schedules on Thursday for what will be the league’s final season in its current format.

MLS will move to a fall-to-spring calendar that is in line with both Europe’s top soccer leagues and the FIFA calendar.

The 2026 campaign will be the final full season that New York City FC will have to bounce between Yankee Stadium and Citi Field for its home matches, with four home matches set to be played in Queens. There are three home games late in the season where the venue is to be determined.

NYCFC will open their new home, Etihad Park, in the spring of 2027, though a firm opening date has yet to be determined.

NYCFC’s first match of the year will come against the LA Galaxy on Feb. 22, and they will then play a rematch of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Union on March 1 before opening the home portion of their schedule on March 7 in The Bronx against Orlando City SC.

The Red Bulls open their season on Feb. 21 in Orlando before playing their first home game of the year at Sports Illustrated Stadium against the Revolution on Feb. 28.

The first showdown between New York’s two MLS clubs will take place on May 16 in Harrison, N.J., before the Hudson River Derby shifts to Yankee Stadium for its second leg on Sept. 18.

Lionel Messi and Inter Miami will make their first trip to New York on March 22 when they face NYCFC at Yankee Stadium.

They won’t be back in the area again until Oct. 24 when they face the Red Bulls.

The MLS will pause in late May through mid-July for the World Cup, which is being jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.

NYCFC and the Red Bulls play their final matches before the World Cup break on May 23 and return to action on July 22.
