Orioles announcer Ben McDonald reveals wild shampoo take in stunning broadcast moment

It’s one thing to not use shampoo every day. It’s another thing to never use it.

For Orioles color commentator Ben McDonald, the latter is apparently the case.

During the Orioles-Phillies game Sunday, McDonald told MASN play-by-play announcer Kevin Brown that he’s never used shampoo in his life and instead uses a bar of soap to wash his hair.

The conversation came up when full-bearded Brandon Marsh was up to bat for the Phillies in the second inning, Brown asked McDonald if he used the same amount of product in his hair as Marsh.

“No way,” McDonald, who pitched seven season for the Orioles in the 90s, replied. “For me, it’s just a bar of soap.”

“A bar of soap?” Brown jokingly questioned.

“Yeah,” McDonald said. “I’ve never used shampoo. Not once. Ever. Just a bar of soap in the hair.”

Brown continued to question McDonald, asking if he’s ever used shampoo in his life, but McDonald still said he’s never used it.

McDonald then asked Brown if he uses shampoo, and Brown gave a response that almost every other human would agree with.

“Yeah!” Brown responded.

“Why?” McDonald asked.

“Doesn’t everybody else?” Brown asked.

“I don’t know. I just use a bar of soap. It’s simple. All you need is a bar of soap. Cleans it perfectly. I mean, feel how soft this is,” McDonald said as he showed off his hair to Brown. “It’s just a bar of soap. Nice and soft. See? It’s a secret. Don’t tell anybody. I don’t need to spend all that money on shampoo.”

Before the shampoo conversation ended, Brown asked McDonald if he’d use shampoo if the Orioles hit a grand slam Sunday.

McDonald shockingly agreed, but the grand slam never happened, as the Orioles lost 8-0 in a rain-shortened game.

The 54-58 Orioles traded star catcher Adley Rutschman to the Red Sox before Monday’s trade deadline for multiple prospects.
