SANTA CLARA, Calif. — Money is tight for most 20-somethings just starting their professional careers, so John Streicher and his girlfriend spent Sunday mornings clipping coupons for the grocery store.
“That’s why we call him ‘Stretch,’” said Patriots defensive play-caller Zak Kuhr, who shared a Virginia apartment with the couple in 2014-15. “Because he can stretch a dollar.”
Just kidding, Kuhr admitted.
Everyone in the NFL knows “Stretch” is Streicher’s nickname because he is the tallest guy in most rooms.
