Patriots star Christian Barmore charged with domestic assault after Stefon Diggs allegations

New England Patriots star defensive tackle Christian Barmore is facing a domestic assault charge, which stems from an incident with a woman he was in a relationship with on Aug. 8 in Mansfield, according to court documents obtained by WCVB, a local ABC affiliate in Boston.

The 26-year-old Barmore is charged with one count of assault and battery on a family/household member.

The victim stated in an email to police on Dec. 4 that she did not want to move forward with charges against Barmore, according to court documents.

The criminal complaint was issued on Dec. 16, and Barmore is scheduled to be arraigned on Feb. 3 — five days before Super Bowl 2026.

The Patriots said in a statement that they’ve been monitoring the situation and cooperating with the NFL for months as the legal process plays out.

“The New England Patriots are aware of reports regarding a pending February arraignment involving Christian Barmore, which stems from an alleged domestic incident that occurred in August,” the team said.

“The Patriots were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner. The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league. We will have no further comment at this time.”

The news comes one day after Patriots star wide receiver Stefon Diggs had a motion hearing for allegedly slapping and choking his personal chef on Dec. 2 over a money dispute in his Dedham home.

Diggs was charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery.

His arraignment is scheduled for Jan. 23, which is the Friday before the AFC Championship Game.

Diggs denied the accusations through his attorney David Meier, who also represents Barmore.

The playoff-bound Patriots (13-3) take on the Miami Dolphins in their regular-season finale Sunday at Gillette Stadium.
