Polish artist sparks outrage outside Auschwitz with sign saying ‘Israel is doing to the Palestinians what the Germans did to the Jews’

A Polish artist has sparked horror by standing at the Auschwitz concentration camp just days before Oct. 7 with a sign comparing Israelis to the Nazi war criminals who exterminated them in the millions.

Igor Dobrowolski posted a video of himself standing outside Auschwitz with a sign in red saying: “Israel created the largest death camp in history.”

As he turned around, he was seen with a Palestinian flag pinned to his back — and the second part of his sign reading: “Israel is doing to the Palestinians what the Germans did to the Jews.”

Dobrowolski called it a “silent protest” just days before the anniversary of the Oct. 7 slaughter of nearly 1,2000 people in Israel, which started the war against Hamas and other Iran-backed supporters.

“One of the worst things one can do towards the memory of the Holocaust victims is to walk around former concentration camps and close your eyes to the current genocide,” he claimed in defense of his disrespectful display.

Palestinian-Christian human rights activist Inhab Hassan condemned the artist’s actions while sharing the video, with her post viewed more than 1.6 million times, Ynet News reported.

“As a Palestinian, I am appalled,” Hassan wrote. “Holocaust memorials or concentration camps are not stages for political stunts. If you stand with us, do so without exploiting the memory of one of humanity’s greatest tragedies. Stop using our flag and suffering to shield your antisemitism.”

Israeli Ambassador to Poland Dr. Yacov Livne also commented, calling the incident “Despicable.”

The 37-year-old artist also received backlash in March after he appeared at Auschwitz with another sign that read: “Israel we see your genocide.”
