During his Senate confirmation hearing for the position of Secretary of State, Senator Marco Rubio faced multiple interruptions from protesters.
As Rubio began his opening statement before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, demonstrators vocalized their concerns in both Spanish and English.
One protestor cried, “Little Marco, keep your hands … off of our country!”

During the second interruption, a woman shouted in Spanish, “Las acciones de Marco Rubio están matando niños en Nicaragua, Cuba y Venezuela,” which translates to, “Marco Rubio’s actions are killing children in Nicaragua, Cuba, and Venezuela.”
Despite the disturbances, Rubio maintained his composure, quipping, “I get bilingual protests, which is kind of cool.”
As the room settled and preparations were made to continue, another protester, a woman, was escorted out while tearfully yelling: “Education is a human right!”
