SAN FRANCISCO — Puka Nacua’s catches usually draw praise from his Rams teammates, but a proverbial half-court heave he threw up over the weekend is actually what garnered some serious love from Byron Young on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles pass rusher told The California Post in a sitdown interview that he thoroughly enjoyed watching Nacua attempt to score a date with Sydney Sweeney with a cheeky Jan. 30 social media post.
“You miss 100 percent of the shots that you don’t take,” Young said with a laugh.
Nacua shot his shot at the “Anyone But You” actress after he read in a recent interview that she was looking for someone “athletic,” “outgoing” and “funny” who was willing to “go skydiving with me.”
“Love skydiving,” Nacua wrote in a response to the Sweeney article on X.
No word yet if Sweeney’s replied to the Rams receiver, but Young appeared confident Nacua would get some form of an answer from the 28-year-old eventually.
“I got confidence in him,” Young said. “I hope he gets there. I hope he gets the date. That’d definitely be a Hall of Fame move.”
For Nacua’s part, he said during a meeting with reporters at the Toyota Glow-Up Classic on Wednesday night that he might now be regretting his choice for a first date with Sweeney.
“I have an actual fear of heights,” Nacua said. “So, it’ll be interesting.”
