The Raiders are shaking up their staff by bringing back a face from the past.

Norv Turner, who coached the team for two seasons when they were in Oakland, will return to the Raiders as an assistant, NFL Network reported Tuesday.

The move to bring back the 72-year-old Turner — who last coached in the NFL in 2019 — comes after the Raiders fired three assistants, including offensive coordinator Luke Getsy, following Sunday’s 41-24 blowout loss to the Bengals.

It was Las Vegas’ fifth straight defeat in coach Antonio Pierce’s first year at the helm.

Quarterbacks coach Rich Scangarello and offensive line coach James Cregg were also let go.

Scott Turner, coach Turner’s son, is a leading option to take over play-calling responsibilities, according to CBS Sports. He was hired as the Raiders’ passing game coordinator in 2023.

Turner’s last NFL position was with the Panthers as a special assistant to the head coach Ron Rivera in 2019, which followed a stint as the offensive coordinator.

Turner is regarded as one of the greatest offensive minds with an NFL coaching resume that spanned more than three decades in the league.

Turner got his start in the NFL as a wide receivers coach for the Rams in 1985 and was part of the organization until 1990.

The Raiders had a combined record of 9-23 with Turner as head coach.

He has posted an overall head coaching record of 114-122-1.
