Rookie Carson Benge launches 428-foot homer in Mets debut

Carson Benge, welcome to the big leagues.

The Mets’ rookie right fielder didn’t wait long to leave his mark in the debut taking Pirates reliever Justin Lawrence deep for a memorable first MLB hit.

The 23-year-old’s solo shot went 428 feet to deep right center as to make it an and 10-5 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Francisco Alvarez followed with a homer of his own to extend the Opening Day lead.

Benge was all smiles as he emerged from the dugout for a curtain call to cheers from the Citi Field crowd.

It followed his first time on base, a fifth-inning walk in which he came around to score.

He struck out in his first two at-bats of the day, including a three-pitch whiff against Pittsburgh ace Paul Skenes in the first inning — the lone highlight on Skenes’ day, with him getting yanked midway through the first inning.
