‘SNL’ riffs off NY Assemblyman Harvey Epstein’s name in mock campaign ad: ‘I’m a different guy’

Saturday Night Live did a send up of a New York State Assemblyman from Manhattan named Harvey Epstein — joking about the conflation of the names of notorious pervs Jeffery Epstein and Harvey Weinstein.

Host and SNL writer’s room alum John Mulaney stood in as Harvey Epstein in a mock political ad for City Council for the lawmaker from District 74.

Mulaney was even bedazzled with earrings, which the assemblyman has been known to don.

“Saturday Night Live” poked fun at New York State Assemblyman Harvey Epstein’s name during its episode on November 3. X

“Listen, is my name ideal, of course not,” the fake Epstein says to the camera. “You think I don’t know that?”

“But thankfully, I’m a different guy.”

In the mock ad, Mulaney’s Epstein repeatedly stresses that he was not in any way related to the two men who were each charged with depraved sex crimes.

This clarification is repeatedly lost on a host of citizens who give testimonials for the candidate in the ad.

The fake Harvey Epstein even brings out placards with mugshots of Harvey Weinstein and Jeffery Epstein that read “NOT ME” and “DIFFERENT GUY” respectively.

“He’s got my vote, everyone deserves a second chance,” one woman says in a fake testimonial.

“I’m still on my first chance,” Mulaney’s Epstein shouts.

“Even Hillary couldn’t kill this guy,” a hot dog vendor says in a testimonial. “Good for him. He’s a survivor.”

“Again, I’m a different guy,” Epstein pleads, as graffiti is washed from his campaign office.

In another barb, the narrator says, “Epstein looks out for miners.”

“M-I-N-E-R-S. That is an important distinction, please” an exasperated Epstein clarifies.

Another testimonial said that he would be good financially for the city, but should not be allowed near the schools.

The mock Harvey Epstein stresses that he “loves your children, not in a creepy way.”

“I give you my word, as an Epstein.”

Mulaney’s Epstein stresses that he was not in any way related to the two men who were each charged with depraved sex crimes.
