The son of the alleged would-be assassin of former President Donald Trump suggested Sunday that his father was trying to be a “martyr” by trying to kill Trump, whom the man said is hated by “every reasonable person.”
Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, allegedly attempted to kill Trump with an AK-47-style rifle with a scope. He reportedly hid in bushes at Trump’s golf club in West Palm Beach and was about 400 yards away from Trump when Secret Service spotted the rifle and opened fire. Routh is currently in custody.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Oran Routh, 35, said his father hates Trump, as “every reasonable person does,” adding, “I don’t like Trump either.”
“I hate this game every four years, and think that we all do, and if my father wants to be a martyr to how broken and disassociated the process has become from the real problems and practical solutions, then that’s his choice,” Oran added, seeming to justify his father’s alleged plot to kill Trump.
“I’m not saying that’s what he’s done or what he’s about, that’s just my own rant being fed up with it all for my entire adult life,” he continued.

“South Park said it best, every 4 years we’re forced to choose between a turd sandwich and a giant d*****, and it all stays f***ed in the same ways by different degrees, and we’re exhausted and embarrassed by it all,” Oran said.
He noted that he’s not in contact with his father much since the two had a “falling out,” but did not elaborate on the tiff.
Oran also said his dad is not a “violent person” and that he didn’t believe he owned a gun. “I’ve never known him to own a gun or known him to do anything bats*** like this,” he said.
Trump responded to the attack on Sunday, telling supporters that he is “safe and well” and would “never surrender. ”
“There were gunshots in my vicinity, but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!,” Trump said. “Nothing will slow me down. I will NEVER SURRENDER! I will always love you for supporting me. Unity. Peace. Make America Great Again.”
The alleged scheme on Sunday marks the second assassination attempt on Trump’s life in just nine weeks. During a political rally in Butler, PA, Trump escaped death or serious injury when he turned his head a split second before he was shot in the ear by another would-be assassin. A Trump supporter at the rally was tragically killed in the attack.
