Former reality TV star Spencer Pratt isn’t running for Los Angeles mayor, but that didn’t stop him from making Election Day headlines about his campaign — revealing why he controversially holed up at the luxury Hotel Bel-Air while campaigning after losing his Palisades home in the devastating wildfire.

Pratt stayed at the ritzy Hotel Bel-Air during his campaign, where rooms reportedly start at more than $1,000 a night and the lavish Swan Lake Suite can run $8,090. A TMZ report unearthed the luxury digs just days after Pratt released a campaign video featuring wife Heidi Montag and their family touring an Airstream trailer on the charred lot where their Palisades home once stood.

“This is where I live,” Pratt declared in the video.

Pratt, in a lengthy post on X Tuesday, explained why he chose to stay at Hotel Bel-Air.

He insisted that the airstream trailer was real and not a prop, noting how much money and work he poured into getting the trailer installed at his burned property.

“I got a sump pump and permanent plumbing connecting it to the sewer, and was still waiting on LADWP to connect us to the grid,” he explained.

“Throughout the campaign, I endured numerous death threats, to the point where I had to hire full-time security,” Pratt said. “People were breaking into my lot in the Palisades and leaving notes on the airstream with white powder in them.”

All those threats and invasion of privacy, Pratt claimed, happened because he was a Republican.

Pratt had to hire SWAT officers for security detail and that a “lunatic” charged at his son while he was boogie-boarding in the ocean, he claimed in his social media post.

“So, I had to hire a second security detail for my family while I was away campaigning. I don’t know if you’ve ever had to hire 4-5 armed security professionals with blacked out SUVs, but…it’s not cheap,” Pratt said.

His Palisades lot was a “security nightmare,” he was told, and the Bel-Air, unlike other hotels, had actually good security settings. “The Hotel Bel Air is surrounded with a fortress wall, with a single point of ingress, a fatal funnel that takes you over a moat, just to enter the property,” the former candidate explained.

Pratt argued he would have had to book 3 extra rooms at any other place for extra security, which would have cost him $3,000 more per night.

Pratt ended with a tirade against what he called left-wing violence, recalling a campaign encounter with Raman in an elevator where he noticed she had no security.

“It was at that moment I realized the bubble the left lives in. We have a communist violence problem in America,” Pratt said. “Even they know, deep down, they never have to worry about violence because the violence only ever goes one way, and it comes from their team.”

Since Pratt lost the primary, the former star has continued to commentate on politics. He may also not be done with the mayoral race even after Election Day.

In a viral concession video posted months ago,  he claimed he has damning evidence that would force one of the two Democrat candidates to resign and that he’ll release it when voters “pick their demon.”
