Matthew Stafford made history at Lumen Field on Sunday evening in the NFC Championship game between the Rams and Seahawks.

Stafford reached 50 passing touchdowns on the season, playoffs included, when he found running back Kyren Williams wide-open for the touchdown at the end of the first half. With the score, he carved his name into one of the NFL’s most exclusive rooms.

That’s the list of quarterbacks who have thrown 50 or more touchdown passes, including playoffs, in multiple seasons.

The throw itself was almost disrespectfully simple. Seattle lost Williams in space, and Stafford calmly delivered the ball for a score just before halftime.

It was the Rams quarterback’s fourth touchdown of the postseason, adding to an NFL-best 46 during a regular season that has him as an MVP finalist.

Stafford did this once before, in 2021, when he hit the same number and finished the job with a Lombardi Trophy cradled against his chest at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood. That season ended with confetti and validation. This one is still being written.

That historic strike to Williams was Stafford’s only touchdown pass of the first half. The Rams trailed 17–13 at the break. Stafford’s line — 8-for-15, 125 yards.
