The blade-wielding State Department employee who launched a frenzied stabbing spree on a Virginia highway Sunday knifed four strangers and his own dog during the deadly road rage rampage.

Jared Llamado, a 32-year-old Foreign Service Officer, was shot dead by a Virginia State Trooper on I-495 in Fairfax County after he allegedly charged at him with the knife following the violent outburst that left Fairfax resident Michele Adams dead and three other women wounded, according to Virginia State Police.

The alleged assailant also killed his dog, police said.

Authorities said the three surviving victims – ages 36, 37 and 40 – were hospitalized with serious injuries, and none had any prior connection to Llamado before he launched his vicious attack.

The deadly rampage erupted around 1:20 p.m. when the irate suspect allegedly started stabbing people in another vehicle involved in a car crash on the southbound Capital Beltway on I-495, about 15 miles outside Washington, DC, according to the Fairfax police dispatcher.

One responding trooper opened fire “in self-defense,” striking the McLean resident twice in the chest.

Llamado and the four critically injured victims were all rushed to the hospital. Adams, 39, and her alleged killer later succumbed to their injuries, police said.

The trooper who fired the fatal shot was not injured and has since been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.

Police, who shut down a portion of the highway during the probe, said Llamado is the sole suspect in the stabbings, which are not believed to be related to terrorism.

The alleged stabber, a 2015 graduate of George Mason University in Virginia, had worked for over a year as a diplomatic technology officer at the State Department, according to his LinkedIn profile.

“We are aware of the tragic incident that involved a Foreign Service Officer and occurred on Sunday, March 1, in Fairfax County, Virginia,” a State Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

“We extend our deepest condolences to all those affected by this tragedy.”
